Thin pro has caused millions to become contaminated with a zombie like virus that leaves holes in the brain and causes the victims or “connies” to be violent. The virus is not known to be contagious but there is mandatory and random testing for the virus and known connies are tested on , lobotomized and shock collared. Velvet’s mom is a connie that use to be shock collared but has shown signs of recovery after Velvet illegally took her mom’s collar off with a paper clip. The soldiers rounding up people for testing are becoming even more violent and Velvet’s world is turned up side down after a house fire breaks out and Velvet is brought in for testing . I loved the main character Velvet and was hooked from the very beginning wanting to know what was going to happen next.

Angela has always admired the hallmark picture of a quaint Maine cottage . On Impulse Angie joins an online dating service by recommendation of a friend and finds a sailboat instructor from Maine that seems to be the perfect catch. After a fumbled career she goes to Maine for a brief trip that will end up changing her life forever..

I did agree with her family and friend’s that she was jumping the gun by moving so fast and staying in Maine with this man she met on the internet and barely knew. It was nice to see Angie get a grip and reevaluate her life and what she wanted her goals to be after everything seemed to be falling apart at her feet. This was slow paced and although a quick read I wasn’t engrossed in the book and feeling like I can’t wait to see what would happen next in Angie’s life.

When Meri’s mother passes away she leaves behind a letter and diary describing the unusual circumstances of her birth. Meri is shocked to find out that her mother was a scared runaway caught out in the storm that sought comfort at the calder farm . Meri is unofficially adopted by the calder’s and is accepted as their own. Not only has Meri’s family been keeping the secret but even her best friend Alden knew. Alden was the young boy that rescued Meri’s birth mother from the rocky beach and promised to always watch over her and take good care of her.

Alden is illustrator and lives in a big ole house near the calder farm. He has always been Meri’s protector and shoulder to lean on. When Meri’s fiance goes to California for a law internship Meri begin’s to debate her feelings for Peter because deep down her heart belong’s to someone else.

I couldn’t stand Alden’s ex wife and how she went out her way to scrap up every penny he had and used their children as bait by preventing them from seeing him often. I was a little bogged down the details of the home restoration but overall I really enjoyed this book.

Abby Kimball has a new job at a museum in Concord, Massachusetts and she’s started to date Ned Newhall who shares her interest in history.Abby is able to see ghosts and believes the ghosts that she’s seeing are her ancestors. When Abby and Ned attend a revolutionary war reenactment and Abby see’s a ghost Abby is determined to find out who the man is . There was a lot of information on revolutionary war and although dragging in parts I overall liked the book.
